Tsunami Housing Scheme
Tsunami Housing Scheme (18 houses)

Funding Agency : Jinasena Tsunami Rehabilitation Trust

Area / Location : Beruwala

The chief aim of the project was to construct & make them to reside in eighteen houses cinstructed with the aid of "Jinasena Trust" to those who's houses were destroyed by the "Tsunami" catastrophe. The Trust also funded for water, electricity, roads and a "Budumedura".

'Kaluwamodara' River Environmental Conservation
December 1999 - December 2003

Funding Agency : Wildlife & Environmental Ministry. (ADB)

Area / Location : Kalutara District

The projetc was finalized in three stages. The main reason for the inauguration of this project due to the lack of proper irrigation facilities. This area very often gets inundated with floods. The main task of the project was to control floodding, avoiding ruination of crops, development of bare lands, conservation of river boundaries and improving the health and sanitation facilities.

Basic Nutrition and Indepth Nutrition Program

Area / Location : Dodangoda, Kalutara & Beruwala

Two progeams were conducted by the NDTF with World bank funding. Basic nutrition program was implemented in Dodangoda & Kalutara, indepth nutrition program in Beruwala. Goverment Health Department also supported program.

Water supply and Senetation
December 2002 - April 2004

Area / Location : Dodangoda

Under the project, the anticipated objective was to mobilize the society to do planning and construction work to develop Water supply and Senetation in four DS divisions of the selected area. Under the social mobilization program, to hold awareness programs at vilage level, surveying water resoureces, to draft maps and participatory investigation, compiling of feasibility repots and preparing of final planning reports have been completed.

Kalutara District Community Project
May 1994 - December 1999

Area / Location : Dodangoda, Kalutara

Succefully completed fifteen community projects. An active Community Based organization (CBO) from the village was identified and the responsibility was entrusted to them with a participation of 10% self labour. Maintanance of the project was entrusted with the CBOs.

Uplifting the Livelihood of Fisher folk
March 2005 -September 2006

Area / Location : Beruwala

Granting of loans, supplying of pedal cycles, nets, boats with engine on a low interest rate to those whos boats and nets were severely damaged due to "Tsunami" as they were deprived of there income.

Water supply and Sanitation "Gampaha"

Under the second stage of the Community Water Supply and Sanitation Project, the acticities were to undertake community development, constructions, supervision and planning of maintanance in eight GN areas.

"Gangasiripura" Housing Scheme for flood victims

Area / Location : Gangasiripura-Milleniya

Huge flooding at 2003, in "Milleniya" area of Horana district, completely destroyed many houses making poor people homeless. In this project, selected fifteen families will be given financial support for complete there houses which were given by the Government. Additionally loans will be granted uplift there livelihood.

Conservation of Coastal areas
2007 - 2008

Area / Location : Beruwala

An environmental conservation project, focus on the costal area from Payagala to Aluthgama including 12km. This costal area will be transferred to a Conservation Zone and costal conservation activities will be take place with the support of civilians in the area.

This project was propose to start on dried fish industry. Modern technology, Management and efficiency in the processes, Market, Productivity, High quality oriented production and New standards are supposed to be included in the implementation of project.

Livelihood Grants Program for Tsunami Affected's

Area / Location : Beruwala

Many Tsunami affected's have lost there equipments related to there livelihood. In this project granting equipments and tools for such people is the main objective. These goods will include Fishing Nets, Refrigerators, Deepfreezes, Carpentry equipments, etc.
